Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head Music Director to lead our youth programs. As the Music Director, you will play a central role in shaping the musical curriculum, guiding students' artistic development, and fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities

Candidates must demonstrate excellence in teaching and leadership in the following areas:

  • Develop and oversee the curriculum for both recreational and pre-professional music programs, ensuring alignment with best practices in music education and performance.

​

  • Lead and conduct classes, rehearsals, workshops, and masterclasses focused on ensemble playing, music theory, ear training, and performance skills.

​

  • Collaborate with instructors, accompanists, and guest artists to provide comprehensive training and mentorship to students.

​

  • Direct and produce performances, recitals, and showcases that showcase students' musical talents and accomplishments.

​

  • Mentor and support students in their musical journey, providing guidance, feedback, and encouragement as they develop their skills and pursue their musical goals.

​

  • Serve as a liaison between students, parents, staff, and community members, fostering positive relationships and communication.

Qualifications

Candidates must be proficient in the following areas:

​

  • Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or related field preferred.

​

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience teaching music and conducting ensembles, preferably with youth.

​

  • Proficiency in conducting a variety of ensembles, small bands, vocal groups and soloists.

​

  • Strong background in music theory, ear training, and pedagogy, with the ability to teach a range of musical styles and genres.

​

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students of all ages and abilities.

​

  • Commitment to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that values diversity, equity, and accessibility.

​

  • Experience directing performances and producing concerts or events preferred.

​

  • Knowledge of music technology and digital tools for music education is a plus.

​

  • Organizational and time management abilities to maintain smooth studio operations.​

​

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to talk and engage with young students.​

​

  • Enthusiasm, patience, and a genuine love for young people and the performing arts.​

​

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.​

​

  • First Aid (or willing to obtain) & Criminal Record Check.

Salary & Benefits

Expected Start Date: August / September 2024

Job Type: Full / Part Time 

Schedule:  Monday to Friday 2:00-9:15pm, possible Saturdays or Sundays TBD 

Salary:  $25.00-$45.00 (Negotiable based on experience and qualifications)
